A DESERT ADVENTURE AND A SEARCH FOR THE TRUTH
Aztec, New Mexico is the farthest away from D.C. that Blake Riley—aspiring painter and soon-to-be high school graduate, has ever been. The wide open land of the desert, called Dinétah by the Navajo, is the location of an archaeological dig site where Blake plans to spend her last summer vacation painting the desert landscape to her heart’s content.
Her parents are worried about the rattlesnakes and lizards, but the ruthless people hunting a supposed treasure are scarier than any poisonous reptile. The head scientist is eager to learn more about the people who once lived here, but not everyone shares his motivations. Greed and animosity is soon thicker than the stifling desert heat, and the ghost that haunts the hills every night trying to scare them away doesn’t make things any easier. Blake’s charming vacation quickly turns into a tense battleground, and soon, a fight for survival.
